Shapes and sizes
The corner sofa consists of two parts: the main and the side, firmly connected to each other. The standard model of the corner sofa is presented in the form of the letter G, where the size of the main component is twice as long as the side. This shape looks organic when installed in a corner, it is also used to divide the room into zones.
Beautiful corner sofas in the shape of asemicircle. It should be taken into account that other pieces of furniture in the room should also correspond to this model.
They should also have curved, smooth outlines. The arrangement of this model should be completed by installing a small tea table, ottomans, and armchairs. This form of the product helps to optimally fill the bay window space in the living room.
The product in the form of the letter U is used in large rooms. The size of the sleeping place is important for this form. Corner sofas that transform into a large double bed up to one and a half meters wide are the most popular. The width of one sleeping place is 70 cm, up to 200 cm – for a three-seater model.
Corner sofas also differ in their dimensions. First of all, the dimensions of the corner sofas for the living room depend on the area of the room. The dimensions of the corner sofa with a length of 230 to 280 cm, a width of 150 to 180 cm and a depth of 55 to 90 cm are ordered most often.
The dimensions of corner sofas for the hall can reach 406 cm in length. In accordance with the wishes of customers, a small corner sofa with a length of 203 cm can also be made. Everything matters in the product, including depth. A narrow corner sofa, the dimensions of which are smaller than the standard, does not encourage coziness and relaxation.
It is not recommended to equip small rooms with bulky, voluminous furniture. It makes the interior overloaded and cluttered. The dimensions of corner sofas, the sizes of which exceed the standard ones, are most suitable for a spacious hall.
Small models are more appropriate to install in the kitchen, in the bedroom. Also placed in the reception area of the manager, in the office, they provide comfortable conditions for visitors.
Factors that create convenience and comfort
There are many different ways to transform a sofa into a bed.
Methods of transformation using mechanisms:
- Book and Eurobook;
- American and French folding bed;
- Roll-out design;
- Accordion;
- Dolphin.
The most practical and popular ones remain the Eurobook and the “dolphin”.
The seats and back of the sofa should be elastic and soft. These properties depend entirely on the filler. The Bonnell spring block has special rigidity and the ability to withstand heavy loads.
In other cases, polyurethane foam is used - a synthetic substance with a cellular structure from the group of gas-filled plastics. It is elastic and retains its shape perfectly. Polyurethane with a higher density is used for the side parts.
The choice of upholstery materials is very diverse and has a large number of patterns. It is important that the shape and upholstery material match the interior of the room.
Jacquard and tapestry fabrics are widely used. They are quite durable and affordable. Sofas upholstered with Teflon or flock fabric, velour, chinchilla are more expensive.
High-strength natural materials are used for a sofa in a child's room, and strong, water-repellent, and impact-resistant materials are used for the kitchen. Materials with bright and large patterns look too flashy, and upholstery for small sofas with squares or wide stripes does not look good either.
Corner sofas can also be equipped with various shelves, linen drawers, and a bar.
