The dimensions of sofas are determined by medical standards. For a person to maintain his health and comfort, there should be at least 50 cm of space in the sitting position and 70 cm in the lying position. Based on these and other characteristics, sofas of approximately the same dimensions are produced. The dimensions vary depending on the model of the product. Be careful when choosing the right dimensions.

Double Option
The height of a sofa with two seats is from 80 to 100 centimeters. The length varies from 2 to 2.5 meters. The second variation is inherent in a one and a half size product. When adding modules to the sofa, an increase of 50-70 cm may appear. The depth of the furniture is slightly less than a meter: 80-90 centimeters. There are models that provide a low hard back, but offer a soft cushion above its level as the main support. Then, with a product height of 60 cm, the actual size of the back wall can be 90-100 cm.
Three-seater variations
A three-seater sofa is less popular than a two-seater. But it has more variations: it can be a modular version or a corner one. The standard length is up to 3 meters, more often 2.5.
Corner furniture
The depth of the protruding part of the additional module is 0.6 or more of the total width of the sofa. Dimensions start at 80 centimeters, and the maximum width of unassembled furniture is 100 cm. Corner furniture can be either three- or four-seater. The maximum length of such a sofa is 3.5 meters. The height of the backrest is the greatest: up to 110 cm, but be careful - this variation can block the bottom of the windows.
Height of the product depending on the type
Little attention is paid to the height of sofas, while the backrest is an important support for the spine.
The smallest height of the sofa is in models for children's rooms. Such types do not exceed the mark sometimes even 60 cm. Modular sofas are close to this indicator: the height of their back is 70 centimeters.
How to select product dimensions
When choosing the size of the sofa, be judicious. You need to base it on:
- room capabilities;
- interior design;
- the required capacity of the sofa.
In a large family, three-seater corner sofas, one-and-a-half fold-out units, etc. are necessary. The optimal addition to the sofa for each family member is 70 cm when disassembled, 50 cm when assembled. Based on this calculation, three people can fit on a two-seater version with a length of about 200 cm. In reality, there will hardly be enough space on it, so be more wasteful: it is better to buy additional modules or use more spacious models.
In small rooms, two-seater sofas 1.8-2 meters long are installed. They can be cut down in depth to 70 cm. The height is 7-8 decimeters. If the size of the apartment allows, it is better to buy three-seater models, corner ones. The additional module compactly slides out, making such devices a comfortable sleeping place. Its height should be sufficient for a person to feel comfortable during rest.
Designers advise choosing sofas with a high backrest. It visually expands the space around the furniture. At the same time, it should not exceed the level of the windowsills in the house.
