The world-famous company produces beds for every taste. Most products have additional features, such as drawers for storing pillows and blankets.
General design
Each contains 3 components:
- frame;
- bottom;
- mattress.
The frame is the basis of any bed. It usually consists of a frame, legs, footboard and headboard. In some cases, one of the elements (except, of course, the frame) may be missing. It all depends on the model.
The bottom of Ikea beds is only slatted, since there is no other way to provide the mattress with the necessary ventilation. The bottom is usually made of several layers of wood, and the slat holders are made of plastic.
There are also many orthopedic mattresses in the catalog of the famous brand. The company produces mattresses of varying degrees of firmness and comfort.
The headboard can be either built-in or a separate item, acting as a rack with shelves.

Types of beds
The shape of an Ikea bed is often rectangular, but the company can offer you many non-standard options.
- A round transformable bed with a lot of interesting functions. When unfolded, its width is 250 cm. The bed is made up of 4 parts of a circle and a separate balancing system. To unfold it, you need to connect the segments with several straps. You can use the parts of the round bed as armchairs or put together two small sofas.
- Another interesting model is a roll-out bed made of chipboard. Its dimensions are 95*202 cm. It has two sides - low and high. When folded, it is a small sofa that does not take up much space.
- A sofa bed is a more classic option, unfolding like a "book". It has drawers for linen or other things. It has a special orthopedic mattress - a topper.
Ikea Double Bed Sizes
The parameters are impressive. The simplest product is from the Brimnes series, the parameters of which are 140*200 cm. Next come the Brusali and Malm beds, their width is 1.5 m. Then – Oppland and Nordli (1.6 m). Stockholm, Gurdal, Hemnes reach the mark of 1.7 m. The largest is the bed from the Foldal series – 177*220 cm.
Materials used
Most beds are made of stainless steel. Each model is treated with polyester resin powder - compared to acrylic, this product is more gentle on the surface.
There are also wooden ones, the choice of which is extremely wide. They are made of solid wood or veneered MDF. Wooden Ikea beds look more elegant and traditional - after all, wood is more suitable as a material for furniture than metal.
Basically, the manufacturer uses the following types of trees:
- Birch - it is valued for its shine, which does not disappear even after using stains;
- beech - a product made from this material will serve you for more than one year, and maybe even more than one decade;
- Pine is one of the simplest and most unpretentious options, affordable to anyone.
How to make a choice?
First of all, you should focus on the cost of the bed and the materials from which the bed is made.
Also consider what function the bed should perform. Will it be a neat little sofa in the living room that can be unfolded for an overnight guest? Or do you need a wide marital bed for your bedroom?
Whatever it is, in the Ikea catalog you can find any bed that will be inexpensive and at the same time combine all the necessary characteristics.
