1. Fabrics

Any model of sofa decor includes two layers of fabric. The first is internal, made of durable fabric. The second is external, used to decorate the pillowcase from the outside. Basic requirements for the material:

• Wear resistance.
• Not too rough texture.

2. Pattern

To begin with, it is better to take a classic rectangular shape. Having practiced on it, you can improve your skills and make products of more complex configurations. The pattern can be made on Whatman paper. To do this, you need to draw a rectangle measuring 50 x 50 cm. Then add 2 cm of seam allowance on each side of the rectangle and cut out the blank from paper. After this, the pattern is transferred to the fabric. 4 parts are cut out: 2 from cotton for the inner cover and 2 from fabric for the outer part.

3. Sewing

The rectangle is easy to sew: you need to make three even lines on the sides of the back side, then turn it inside out. Leave the fourth side without a line so that you can insert the filler. After the product is sewn, it is turned inside out. The inner part is stuffed with filler and the question arises: how to close the remaining seam? There are several solutions to the problem:

• Zipper. Sewn before stuffing. Allows easy removal of the cover for washing, but may cause discomfort during rest due to metal elements.

• Textile piping, lace or binding. "Masking" tape is sewn over all seams, including the last one.

• Unfinished edge. The most versatile option. It is done simply: when all the seams are ready, the last one is also stitched, but 2-3 cm short of the end. The resulting slit is filled with stuffing. Then the hole is closed with an invisible seam and masked with a decorative element, for example, a pompom.

4. Stuffing

The best materials for filling are considered to be holofiber and synthetic fluff. Both are made of the finest polyester fibers. But holofiber is produced in the form of sheets and is used where it is necessary to create an unusual shape: a cloud, an animal figure, an alphabet. Synthetic fluff is soft synthetic granules. The main advantage of both materials is that ticks and other microorganisms do not start in them, the filling is easy to care for, it is easy to wash in a machine.
