To make soft letter pillows you will need the following materials.
- Fabric – you will need enough for the front, back, and side parts of the future pillow. If all sides are different colors, then the textile will need to be appropriate.
- Threads - they are used to sew individual parts together manually or by machine. The seams are either internal, invisible, or decorative, which are an independent decoration.
- Filler: synthetic padding, foam rubber, holofiber, cotton wool.
- Decor – colored yarn, bows, ribbons, iron-on stickers, beads, rhinestones, etc.
The tools you need are a pencil, a ruler, paper for patterns, chalk to trace the patterns on the fabric, sharp scissors, pins to connect the individual parts before stitching, sewing needles, and a tape measure. The latter can mostly be replaced with a sewing machine or an overlock, which is used to overcast the seams. Decorative embroidery is done both by hand and by machine.

Ready-made letter-pillow templates can be downloaded from the Internet, enlarged, printed on a printer. The easiest way is to draw all the necessary ones in the graphic editor "paint", adjusting them to the desired dimensions. Products of any height are suitable for a gift, but for interior decor, and especially for sleeping, the letter is made at least 50 by 35 cm, the width of each "leg" is 10-15 cm, the thickness is 10-13 cm.
It is also easy to draw letters for pillows by hand – it can be a single letter or a full name. To transfer the template to the fabric, the latter is folded in half with the “face” inward (if both sides are made of the same textile) or two pieces of different material are placed one on top of the other.
When creating side pieces, you need to measure all sides of the patterns with a ruler (for “angular” letters) or an elastic tape measure (for rounded, “capital” letters).
What fabric to take for sewing
Many woven and non-woven materials are suitable for a soft letter pillow:

- Using a neat blind stitch, secure the hole through which the pillow was stuffed.
- Start decorating – embroider congratulations, flowers, butterflies on the surface, sew on bows, colored buttons, glue on doll eyes, glitter, etc.
If you plan to create a whole name or any other word from hand-made pillow letters, it is desirable that all the letters are the same size. Machine embroidery is only possible on fabric, but not on the finished product. For thin textiles that do not hold their shape well, interlining is placed on the back side.
