Sliding wardrobes have long been a part of our lives. Their simplicity, durability, affordability and functionality have won over many. Determining measurements is a fairly clear and everyday matter, but calculating the dimensions of sliding wardrobe doors makes you think.

Determining the height of compartment doors

It would be a big mistake to think that calculating the door height is identical to the procedure for measuring the entire cabinet. The second mistake could be choosing the height of the product itself, which is equal to the maximum height of the room.

To correctly measure the height of the opening, follow these tips.

1. Take measurements at three points - two side parts and the center. If you get the same parameters, you can be sure that the calculation is easy.

   

2. Take into account the separateness of some elements and do not attribute them.

• Thickness of the lid.
• Dimensions of the thickness of the lower guides with roller design.
• The gap between the lower guides and the canvas.
• Calculate the required gap for door installation (approximately 14 mm).

The role of the upper guide for compartment doors

The main function of the sliding wardrobe guides is easy and accessible opening and closing. The basis of this system will be the rails along which the doors move. There are also many additional parts.

The dimensions of the door guides depend entirely on the dimensions of the doors themselves. Basically, there is no need to buy them separately from the furniture, as they come in a set. But if you made the cabinet yourself, or the old part is out of order, then you need to measure it.

1. Using a drill, a hole is created in the guide itself (size 4 mm). The distance between each is 30 cm.

4. Alignment and fixation with fasteners (self-tapping screws are best).

• dimensions of the handle;
• number of valves;
• the presence of a Schlegel (a part that softens the impact when opening doors).

Calculation of drawers for a sliding wardrobe. Dimensions

To determine the size of the boxes, you need to determine their location. Also, at your discretion, you should choose the dimensions of the future storage space. After this, we turn these "air data" into numbers. Using a tape measure, we take measurements similar to the door.

The drawer itself consists of planks that have their own thickness. Because of this detail, the drawer may not fit. Therefore, it is worth finding out the width of this material and taking it into account. In most cases, the width of the drawer is 5 mm larger than the guides.

Complete algorithm for calculating the size of a drawer for a cabinet

• Subtract the thickness of the central partition and sides from the total width of the cabinet.
• Subtract the width of the material from the resulting number and divide into sections.

Thus, we found out the width of the shelves themselves.

To calculate the space for the drawers, it is worth subtracting approximately 35 mm from the width of the shelf. And this is the width of the drawer itself in the shelf. The need to subtract comes from the need to open the drawer without catching the door.
