Cleaning in the washing machine
The best way to wash tulle depends on the material it is made of. Machine washing is not suitable for all fabrics. For example, natural silk or organza will not withstand automatic cleaning and will lose their decorative properties. It is recommended to check the composition of the material when buying tulle in a store.
To achieve the best results, it is important to properly prepare the item for washing.:
- the curtains are removed and shaken vigorously;
- fill a bathtub or basin with cool water in which 2-3 tablespoons of table salt are dissolved;
- tulle is soaked in water for 40-60 minutes;
- remove the tulle from the water, let it drain and wash it.
Washing tulle manually should be carried out in the following order.
- Fill the bath with water at a temperature no higher than 40 degrees, add a suitable detergent and dilute it thoroughly.
- Immerse the tulle in water and leave it for about 10 minutes, allowing the fabric to become completely saturated with the soap solution.
- After this, begin washing with light wringing movements.
- Rinse the washed curtains thoroughly, changing the water 2-3 times.
When washing tulle in automatic mode It is important to follow the following rules:
- the product is pre-soaked in a saline solution and rinsed to remove traces of dust;
- tulle must be placed in a special cover for washing;
- liquid detergent is used, and, if necessary, oxygen bleach is added;
- the water temperature during washing should not deviate from the range of 30-40 degrees, the mode should be selected only delicate and the spin speed should not exceed 400%.
After the process is complete, the tulle is immediately removed from the washing machine and hung out to dry.
Folk methods
Every housewife has her own time-tested remedy that helps restore tulle's decorative qualities.
Salt
Its solution is effective in removing greasy stains and dust deposits. To prepare the solution, dissolve 100 g of fine table salt and washing powder for whites in 10 liters of warm water. Soak the tulle in the solution for 12-24 hours, then remove and let the water drain. Then you can wash the product as usual. Do not use iodized salt for soaking tulle!
Ammonia
Mixed with hydrogen peroxide, ammonia gives excellent results in helping to get rid of yellow or gray coating on tulle. To do this, 30 g of ammonia and 50 g of hydrogen peroxide are diluted in 5 liters of warm water. The tulle is left in the solution for half an hour, after which it is washed.
Soda
It has pronounced whitening properties. 2 tablespoons of baking soda and washing powder are diluted in 5 liters of warm water, the tulle is soaked in this solution for 20-30 minutes, then rinsed and washed by hand or in a machine on a delicate setting.
Green stuff
Suitable for products made of organza and nylon, returning them to their original freshness. To do this, dilute 10 drops of brilliant green and 2 tablespoons of fine salt in a glass of water. Strain this mixture through a fine sieve and pour into a 10-liter bucket of warm water. Place the tulle in the solution for 8-12 minutes, then hang it out to dry without rinsing. With this method of bleaching, it is necessary to strictly observe the proportions, otherwise the brilliant green can spoil the product.
Blue
It is no less effective than brilliant green, and it also gives the tulle slight bluish tint, associated with winter freshness. A cap of blueing is dissolved in 10 liters of warm water (in no case more!). Curtains, which were previously washed in the usual way, are dipped in the solution for 10-15 minutes, after which they are rinsed in clean water and sent to dry.
Household chemicals
Modern products effectively restore the whiteness of tulle. Compared to folk methods, they have two significant advantages.
- Removing stains from fabric is as simple and quick as possible.
- The result is guaranteed (unlike improvised means, which do not always cope with the task).
According to the instructions, tulle is usually soaked for 30-60 minutes in a solution with bleach, after which it is washed in the usual way.
