Definition of blackout curtains
Usually, when talking about light-blocking curtains, mean curtains made of blackout fabric. Their homeland is Finland. And the stimulus for the creation of know-how was the white nights. Blackout is a three-layer fabric. The first white layer is a reflector, the second slows down the flow of rays into the room, the third is decorative. The last layer is made of modern materials of different colors and patterns.
Thanks to such curtains, the degree of protection is from 90% to 100%. The subtleties of the production process are not disclosed, only some general points are available.

Sun protection film curtain
Another way to protect against excessive sunlight is film. Being a reflector, the film is able to neutralize ultraviolet radiation.
Advantages sun protection film - curtains:
- Does not collect dust;
- Complements any interior design;
- In winter it retains heat, and in summer it does not let in sunlight, cooling the room;
- It has a positive effect on the growth of indoor plants due to the microclimate it creates;
- The tinting effect reliably protects from prying eyes;
- The film is combined with curtains and blinds;
- Reasonable price.
Flaws:
- Film is a fragile and thin material that can be easily damaged;
- Low-quality film fades in the sun, and some of its fragments may stick strongly to the glass.
You can “install” such protection yourself.
First, prepare the window. Wash it thoroughly, then degrease the glass. Wet the glass and the film surface with soapy water. It is better to use a spray bottle for this purpose. Apply the film to the glass, and then smooth the surface with a spatula so that there are no folds or bubbles. Leave to dry.
To ensure that the film sticks well, it is best to do this in the evening or during the day, when there is no sun, so that the temperature does not exceed +25 degrees.
If you need to remove or replace the film, heat the surface with a hair dryer and remove the film. This is possible if the film was glued using a soap solution. Self-adhesive film is removed by wetting the surface with acetone.
