Material of manufacture

1. Plastic. Wide range of colors. Decorative films can be used, glued to the visible parts of the cornice. Allows you to choose a color as close as possible to the canvas itself. 3. Metal. Most often, aluminum is used. Forged ones look incredibly stylish, aristocratic. They can be covered with self-adhesive films. Paints imitating gold, bronze, silver are applied. Lightweight, capable of withstanding curtains of large mass. Long service life.

   

4. Polyurethane. Very flexible. Accepts various configurations. Can be repainted repeatedly. Various reliefs are applied.

   

Number of guides holding the curtains

1. Single-row. One piece. Often only transparent tulle of light weight.

   

2. Double row. Two panels one after the other. Night curtains, day curtains.

   

3. Three-row. In the presence of complex structures, the third guide allows you to hold additional weight. For example, various draperies, folds, lambrequins.

Main differences from other consoles

1. The ability to hang the curtain from the ceiling to the floor. The entire area is covered, without gaps. An ideal solution for rooms with low ceilings. Conventional methods of hanging curtains visually "cut" the height even more. Ceiling cornices allow you to achieve visual deception, raise the ceiling.

   

2. The problem of non-standard rooms is solved. Irregular polygons, semi-ovals, curves - the shapes of the room, its individual parts are difficult to decorate with the help of an ordinary wall baguette. Ceiling baguettes can take any shape, bend. They retain an aesthetic appearance.

   

3. They can be fixed not only in two or three points like wall ones. The mounting step is chosen independently, depending on the weight and number of curtains.

By external criteria

1. Round. Most often made of plastic. The kit includes: straight elements of various lengths, turns, bends. Will allow you to go around any geometric shape of the walls. They are tightly attached to the ceiling, without protrusions, decorative elements. Such a design can be hidden in a plasterboard box. It seems that the curtain is floating in the air, not tied to anything. LEDs hidden in such a niche can effectively illuminate the overall canvas.

   

2. Baguette. On the front side, in addition to the structure itself for fastening the curtain, a decorative element is put on, resembling a curved bar in shape. Completely frames, hides the upper part of the curtain.

   

3. String. Budget option. A string is stretched between two brackets, onto which hooks are put. Can be hidden in a box. Used when decorating rooms in the style of minimalism, high-tech.

   

4. Profile. Large bending radius. They protrude from the ceiling by several centimeters. Durable, reliable. They can withstand heavy weight. They are made of plastic. At the customer’s request, they can be equipped with an electric drive.

   

The methods of attaching curtains to the ceiling depend on the material it is made of.

• Plasterboard ceilings. Please note: at the repair stage, you need to lay a separate profile, wooden supports, beams of your choice, in order to subsequently attach the cornice to it. Fixing directly to the plasterboard sheet is impossible. This will damage the ceiling structure itself, making it fragile and dangerous.

  

Necessary tools: drywall screws, screwdriver (drill), level, marker, tape measure.

Instructions

1. We mark the places for drilling along the entire line of the curtain. We take into account the indentation from the window. It is better to use a level to maintain a straight line.
2. If there are any bends, we assemble the cornice into a single structure.
3. Depending on the configuration, we screw the brackets or the cornice itself directly to the ceiling.
4. Plugs are placed on the edges of the structure.

Additional bookmarks are also required for fastening to stretch ceilings. It is necessary to take into account their fragility and thinness. It is possible to lay wooden supports before its installation. Or bring the ceiling close to the niche made of plasterboard, in which the cornice will be hidden.

Some manufacturers claim the following methods of fastening: glue, tape. Craftsmen consider them irrelevant, dangerous to health. Over time, they may not withstand the weight of the curtains, injure family members when falling. There is no point in considering these options in more detail.

Ceiling curtains are equipped with a tape. They can have a straight edge. They are attached using hooks, "clothespins", and Velcro. When ordering, take into account the intended method of fixation on the cornice itself.

Curtains to the ceiling are a great choice for bedrooms and halls. Due to their strength, they will withstand any weight of decorative elements. The right material will complement the overall impression of the room.

Wall-mounted models: types, installation

Wall-mounted curtain mounting options, better known as baguettes. Suitable for rooms with medium to large distances from the floor to the ceiling. Made from all of the above materials.

According to external criteria, the following are distinguished.

1. String, profile, baguette. Similar to ceiling curtains. Not hidden in niches. Attached to the wall.

   

   

2. Rod. Pipes attached to brackets of various shapes. They differ in diameter.

   

3. Combined. Combine several types at once.
4. For Japanese curtains. From two to five strips, along which they “slide” along the entire length of the canvas of smooth, straight fabric.

   

5. Curtain rods for roller blinds. Can be attached to the ceiling, wall, window opening.

   

The mounting methods are completely consistent with ceiling cornices. The difference is that they are mounted to the wall. A large number of decorative tips: spears, leaves, balls, peaks.

This design allows the use of various types of fabric fastening: loops, ties, eyelets.

Which curtains are better: ceiling or wall curtains? There is no clear answer. As already stated, everything depends on the height of the ceiling, the weight of the curtains, and the desired final effect.

Dimensions of ceiling and wall curtains: what should be taken into account?

There are all sorts of variations both in length (up to several meters) and in width. For all types there are basic selection criteria.

1. Expected result: simply close the window area. Approximately 15-25 cm are added to the window width.
2. Result: visually narrow the window. The cornice fits exactly into the opening.
3. Result: make the window larger. At least 25 centimeters longer.

The width depends on the number of rows. On average, it ranges from two to ten centimeters. This factor must be taken into account when forming niches for ceiling options.

The minimum distance from the wall (in case of wall mounting) is 20-25 centimeters.

What are hanging curtains?

Rather, a novelty of design moves in the types of installation. They are no different from wall ones. The installation of brackets and fasteners occurs not on the wall, but on the ceiling. The illusion of a "floating" curtain arises.
