Transfer the measurements to the fabric, cut the canvas to the desired size.
Sew the fabric along the perimeter, bending the edges, first fixing them with safety pins. Sew the tape on top, then insert the loops. The finished base can be decorated by sewing some original elements onto it, decorating it with a ribbon or a bow.
Additional information: If you want to visually expand the space, use light materials (chiffon, threads) of light colors, to achieve the opposite effect, choose dark fabrics.
Curtain with pendants
Another option that is feasible for self-fulfillment is curtains with pendants. It is not difficult to make such decoration, but it is troublesome.
Before you start working, prepare everything you need: a wooden lath, a 0.5 mm thick fishing line (or reinforced thread), and decorative material. Any available items will do: paper clips, beads, colored cardboard, buttons, etc.
There are many options for making curtains with pendants, here are just a few of them:
Perform the actions in the following sequence:
- Measure the height from the cornice to the floor and add a couple of centimeters, this will be the length of the fishing line. The extra couple of centimeters are needed for tying knots.
Before measuring, decide where exactly the curtain will be attached. When measuring, take into account the shape of the doorway - Drill holes in the rail for the threads; the distance between the holes depends on the size of the elements being strung.
- Thread one end of the fishing line through the hole and tie a knot.
- String the decorations onto the fishing line. If you need to keep some space between them, tie knots or use special metal clamps. The clamps are strung like beads and squeezed with pliers.
You can use any available method to secure the elements. - When all the pendants are put on the fishing line, a knot is tied under the last one. It is better to decorate the fishing lines one by one so that they do not get tangled with each other. If beads are used as decorations, the bottom one should be heavier so that the fishing line hangs straight.
- Attach the strip above the opening with screws or double-sided tape if the decorations are lightweight.
Curtaining doors is not difficult, it is a budget and cozy way of decorating. If you make a curtain with your own hands, then this will be the highlight of the room.
