In general, when considering the methods of how to fix a sheet on a bed, two main directions can be distinguished among them. One of them includes the use of fasteners. The second direction is to change the shape and size of the bed linen itself. Here are some of the methods of fixing a sheet on a mattress that are used.

• They use special fasteners made of wide rubber bands with plastic or metal clips at the ends; they can be purchased both online and in stores.

  

  

• They use serrated curtain holders that work on the principle of clothespins (crocodile clips).

  

• They use paper clips, which can be used to attach fabric to some types of mattress pads.

  

• Sew ribbons or elastic bands to the corners of the sheet, with the help of which the fabric is pulled over the mattress and secured from below.

  

• They buy ready-made sheets with elastic sewn into the edges or alter the bed linen themselves.

  

• Sew buttons and buttonholes, or sticky tape to sheets and mattresses.

How to fix a sheet: choosing holders, clips, fasteners

There are several options for how to secure a sheet to a mattress so that it does not slip off.

The bed sheet holder is perhaps the most versatile and durable fastening element for sheets of those invented to date. Bed sheet holders have various configurations, of which the most common are two-pronged and three-pronged.

Double fasteners consist of an elastic band of various colors with a pair of metal or plastic clip tips. The clips are attached to the sides of the sheet and create a soft, adjustable tension. The elastic on such fasteners can stretch up to 30-150 cm, depending on their original size.

The triple holder has an additional module made of rubber with a clamp. This allows you to attach a corner, which significantly improves the aesthetic appearance of the bed.

How to properly secure a sheet using fasteners?

If we briefly describe the principle of fastening the fasteners, the tape itself is located on the underside of the mattress, and the clamps grab the edge of the sheet near the corners. The standard set usually includes four fasteners to attach all corners of the sheet to the mattress. If you use triple holders, then the corners of the sheet are also attached, which increases the tension.

• Spread the sheet evenly over the surface of the mattress.
• Attach the end of the fastener to one side of the sheet near the corner.
• Slide the fastener along the underside of the mattress, lifting it up by the corner.

• Repeat the same process with the remaining corners.

Other improvised methods include sheets with elastic bands and fastening the corners of the fabric with elastic bands.

How to sew a fitted sheet yourself

Although fitted sheets are sold ready-made, it is not always possible to select the right size for a particular bed. And if the size is not right, the elastic becomes practically useless, as it does not prevent the fabric from slipping.

The most common problem is how to fix linen on a double bed due to its large area. The most convenient way in such cases is to select the fabric of the required size and sew a sheet with an elastic band yourself.

• Cut out squares in the corners of the fabric with sides equal to the height of the mattress, plus twelve centimeters.

  

• Connect the sides of the squares with seams and finish them.

  

• Fold the edges of the sheet and sew them, leaving space to thread the elastic through.

  

• Measure out the length of elastic band needed for your bed and thread it through.

  

• Before sewing, it is advisable to pre-wash natural fabrics. This is done to shrink the fabric.

Fitted sheets made of jersey or satin

Elastic is most often sewn onto jersey and satin sheets, as the thin or elastic fabric takes the shape of the bed very well. Satin and jersey fabric does not form folds and fits perfectly not only to the surface, but also to the sides of the mattresses.
