Selecting a pattern
Knitting even a small blanket is quite a labor-intensive task, so it is better to choose a simple pattern. Traditionally, sectional patterns are chosen for children's things.
For example, waffle. To knit a plush baby blanket with this pattern, you will need about 720 meters of yarn (about 6 skeins).
Waffle pattern diagram
We cast on a number of loops that is a multiple of 10. Then we follow the pattern.
Row 1. Remove the first loop, *4 knit, 1 purl with the thread left on the outside of the work - that is, purl "in reverse"*
We continue the pattern in *…* until the end of the row and finish with a purl edge.
Row 2. Remove the edge loop, knit the entire row purlwise.
Row 3. Knit the same as row 1.
Row 4. Repeat row 2.
Row 5. Repeat row 1.
Row 6. Remove the edge stitch, *4 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch*, edge stitch.
We repeat these 6 rows until we reach the length we need.
Keep in mind that plush yarn is very delicate: if the knitting is too tight, it may become deformed during use.
In order to check how the plush yarn will behave in the finished product, knit a small sample measuring 15x15 cm. This will help you decide on the size of the knitting needles and the tension of the thread during knitting.
How to crochet a baby blanket?
An original, simple and quick crochet pattern - cones. Plush yarn is the best choice here. The item knitted from it will not only become an indispensable assistant on a walk, but will also complement the interior of the child's room with a bright accent.
Scheme of the pattern "cones"
Knit a chain of air loops of the desired length. If you want a rectangular blanket, it is better to choose the long side: this way the pattern looks more impressive. Skip 5 air loops and insert the hook into the 6th. Grab the working thread, pull it through the loop and leave it on the hook. You have an incomplete single crochet.
Insert the hook into the same loop again and knit. Now you should have three loops left on the hook. To form a bump, hook the working thread and pass it through all the loops.
You can make as many partial single crochets in one loop as you need. The optimal number is 3-5 single crochets.
After we have tied the first cone, we make a connecting air loop, step back from our cone 2-3 loops, and in the 3rd we form a cone again. If you want the cones to be located one above the other, then in the next row place it on the same loop with which you pulled the posts together.
To arrange the pattern in a checkerboard pattern, the next row's bobble should be knitted on a connecting chain stitch. The bobbles will be more voluminous if you knit them from incomplete double crochets.
To do this, knit not only the first loop, but also the yarn over, and leave the loops on the hook. The plush yarn edging will give the product a finished look.
Whatever pattern you choose, a knitted blanket made of plush yarn will warm your child and bring an atmosphere of coziness and care into your home.
