- Tying knots using short threads (5 cm) is called knotting.

Let's take a closer look at what is needed to create volumetric embroidery using the carpet technique, what the workflow is for the knot and loop techniques, and other nuances.
Loop
You will need a thick canvas or mesh. Use natural or synthetic embroidery threads. If you want a more voluminous weave, take a thicker thread.
The work begins with transferring the design with a marker to the base. Transfer with tracing paper. The fabric needs to be stretched – use a hoop or a special frame. Embroider from the inside, and the pattern is applied there. The frequency of the stitches creates the design – the denser they are, the more voluminous the picture.
On the Internet you can find pictures and instructions for embroidering a rug on a net. It is believed that this technique helps to create tapestries. On the Internet you will find patterns of carpet technique of embroidered tapestries.
Nodular
The peculiarity of carpet embroidery using the knotting technique is in the yarn. Cut pieces of thread, five centimeters long, are used.
It is noteworthy that the pattern in the carpet technique can be used for cross stitching.
Instead of a needle for embroidering carpets, a special hook is used. It is allowed to take a crochet hook, but it is not very convenient and only experienced craftsmen can use it. It is advisable to buy a special hook.
The elements are created from the outline to the middle. First, the outline is filled in, the center is painted using a circular or linear technique. You need to fold a piece of thread in half and put it on a hook. The hook pierces the base, the ends of the thread are held, then caught by the hook. The hook snaps and pulls the thread to the front surface, simultaneously tightening into a knot.
Patterns for creating a crocheted carpet can be found online. A simple cross stitch pattern will do.

Carpet technique: loop
You will need a needle for embroidery in the carpet technique described above, canvas, scissors, and a hoop (frame). Choose a beautiful pattern online or buy it in a specialized store.
Selecting and applying a design
Choose a carpet embroidery pattern with a needle, print it out. Using carbon paper, apply the pattern to the canvas - apply the carbon paper to the canvas, place the picture on top. Repeat the contours with a pencil, and it will be printed on the base.
Where to start
Immediately after applying the pattern, the master threads the needle and places the fabric in the hoop. Then you need to pierce the canvas at the same distance with the selected shades of thread.
When the thread runs out or you need to change the color, bring the thread to the wrong side, cut it, secure it with a knot. Then thread the new material through the eye and sew.
Hold the needle perpendicular to the fabric, make a puncture, then pull the needle out a little. Make an indent of a few millimeters, insert the tool again, and work according to this scheme of carpet technique for rugs.
After filling the weave, you need to bring the product to a decent condition. Take the canvas out of the hoop, fill a basin with warm water, add a soft (preferably sulfate-free) shampoo. Rinse the product carefully.
Lay it out on a towel and wait for it to dry. Smooth out the creases a little with an iron.
Knot embroidery: master class
You will need a rigid base (stramin), a hook, cut yarn, and a pattern for carpet embroidery with a needle for beginners.
Operating procedure
Using the hook is quite easy, you just need to get the hang of it. Place the hook under the net, thread the doubled thread through the hook, pull the hook slightly towards you – the lock will snap into place.
Move the hook slightly forward - the lock will open, insert the thread and pull back. The loop will tie, and pull the ends towards you to secure the loop. Two ends of the thread will stick out from the front side, creating a fluffy weave.
Fill in the outline first, then the middle of the drawing. When you finish working, if you find any uneven areas, smooth them out.

As for the punch needle, I have 2 different needles of different thickness, hoops and different threads that go with them, I have already tried more than once and for some reason everything goes very slowly, the needle pierces, but almost no threads remain inside. I thought it was because of the cheap needle, but then I bought quite expensive needles on Ali. Why can't I do it? I remember when I was a child, when I lived in the USSR (I have been living in Israel for 27 years now) then I had some kind of needle and I embroidered pillows in the same way and everything was quick and easy, but now I just freak out because it doesn't work. I hope for advice. Thanks in advance
Hello. At first I couldn't do it either. I had a problem with the fabric, the fabric should be selected correctly for different needle sizes. So that it goes into the fabric and doesn't leave big holes, so that loops are formed, so that it stays there. I have a 3 mm needle, I embroider with it on a double thread. It is dense. But 5 mm embroiders on canvas, which has small holes in the form of squares. You need to take and try different fabrics. And the thread should move freely in the needle, without catching. Try, don't be nervous). And you will succeed. I wish you good luck and good loops.
A wonderful piece of furniture, but only if you order from a trusted company. I ordered from a well-known tufting store, but the rug I received was shabby.
